Just got this lens today from Ffordes. Haven't had a chance to shoot outside, but here some quick shots. What strikes me about this is how light and small it is compared to other 35/2 or 35/1.9 lenses.

And a nice way to pack a lens. No other packing material used.

Thanks! I'd be happy to compare if someone were to donate one to me for comparison purposes! Very Happy

So where does this version sit in comparison with other versions?

I will check when time allows.
One of my copies have a red S.S.C. engraved in front plate.
I don't know if they are any different between non-ssc and ssc. Perhaps they just dropped the ssc on the later versions.

I have used other FD lenses, non-ssc and ssc, without notice any annoying lack of contrast.

Yes, I had done some research earlier and they had S.C. (spectra) and S.S.C. (Super Spectra) coating. They dropped this in lenses '78 onwards as all of them received SSC. But for this particular lens, one variant has thorium and is somehow more expensive?

I didn't notice that either. I think i have one of this lens if it is the same look as this url shows:

I need a Geiger counter if they really sell for more. There might be some more with thorium in the cabinet..
