I find this a funny lens. I don't think its performance wide open is all that great. I've tested it before against some other of my lenses and it was not as good at f/2.8 or f/4 as for instance my Mamiya SX 135mm f/2.8, Nikkor ai 135mm f/2.8 or CZJ 135mm f/3.5. But once you stop down to f/5.6 or smaller, the lens starts to shine and is able to capture very very good detail. Subject isolation is not really an issue because of its close focusing ability.
This picture I accidentally took at ISO 1600. A good reminder that I don't always have to aim for ISO 200. Aperture is f/5.6. Because of its close focusing ability, the Hexanon is still able to almost completely dissolve the background at f/5.6. It captures a lot of detail IMO and I like the colors.

Next image. Again, nice soft backgrounds thanks to its close focusing ability. Good detail.

Close focusing ability adds to the versatility of this lens. It makes it so much more inspiring than the average 135mm; just a quick shot without the need of macro rings.

Images taken with the Hexanon 135/3.2 have a very natural feel to it IMO.

Last image @ close focus. Hand held shot at 1/30 sec, but still there's quite some detail. Next time however, I won't hesitate to use ISO 800.

I've been watching to see what you can produce with this lens I sent you. Excellent results and as you mention it excels at close distances. Try it with a extension tube and I don't think you'll be disappointed. It's the best performer of the Hexanon 135mm line in my opinion. _________________ "I've got a Nikon camera, I like to take a photograph" - Paul Simon |

It is indeed an excellent 135 for macro - super sharp with a closed down aperture, in addition to it's other nice qualities. The only bad thing is the aperture hexagons, but that's not all that major. |

Yeah, hardly noticeable with the naked eye, but this lens is very sharp stopped down. _________________ For Sale:
