I recently bought this lens along with an Edixa Mat-reflex camera. Here are a few samples on Canon T3. Contrast and sharpening added.
Here is the camera and lens.

Thank you, Ian.
BTW, I found an another Edixa camera for sale with a ISCO lens. I think it was an ISCOTAR or ISCOLOR 2.8/50.
Do you know anything about those lenses?

Great photos,Are you a painter or do calligraphy? I note the bottles in #7 #8.

I have an Edixa Flex camera, it came with a ISCO-Gottingen westanar 4.5/150 which sadly has lost some contrast because of glass issues. I think the Edixa range of cameras has an interesting collection of lens makers.

You need to find the old photographic magazines that list the camera gear with their lenses and cameras, and look up all the Edixa cameras and its lenses. There probably is a link somewhere on the net that will have the info its just finding it. Smile

Thank you. Yes I am a painter. I am working with colored inks lately.
Thank you for the suggestion for finding information about the camera and lenses.

This is a beautiful lens.
I have a similar, but maybe older - at least from the serial numbers.
The expanding DOF scale is ingenious and practical.
I hope you don't mind if I share a couple of images.

A few more images from this very nice lens.
Mine seems to perform best at close to middle distances and starts to limp a bit as the distance increases towards infinity.

Nice photos!
Interesting observation about the lens, although my eyes begin to limp closer to infinity!
I will need to get a better viewfinder or screen to test that.
I will have to try my lens out more. I think all of my lenses are good, but I haven't used
them enough to learn their qualities(But still I increase my collection). Also maybe I don't know what to look for exactly.
Sharpness, ...etc?

PostPosted: Sun Apr 06, 2014 8:11 am    Post subject: Reply with quote

Thank you for the compliment.
This lens seems to be very sharp in the ranges that I described, but my copy seems to fall away as infinity approaches.
Colour is very good and there is little if any CA.
It is a fine lens and quite a pleasure to use in practice.
Unlike most other 50mm lenses, focusing all takes place within the outside barrel of the lens so there is no extension of the front of the lens- nor any rotation for that matter - which assists with polarising filters etc.
I really like this lens

Thank you for this more detailed evaluation. I can use this if I want to compare my different lenses.
I too like this lens. I was happy that I found it at a price that was reasonable for me. I feel this lens
is a little special or a cut above the average lenses I have.
Those are different variety of pelicans than I have seen in California, where I was born and raised. Their eyes
(or the coloring around their eyes) are interesting.

The Australian Pelican has those peculiar colourings.
They also have an enormous bill - maybe bigger than other pelicans relative to their size.
Here is another gratuitous shot of these pose-meisters:

I also had, the best 50/2.8 lens I've ever had, much better than normal Zeiss Jena Tessars, Industars etc.

I was using mine recently because I was getting ready to sell it. Only wide open because my adapter does not press in the auto lever.

Mine is M42 and has an auto/manual switch which resides just under the left hand side in use.
Even wide open this is a good lens.
That rose is simply lovely
Thanks for sharing.

I have it too and it is the best 2.8/50mm that I have.
In fact I have 2 samples.

I think the Iscotar is the same design.

Yep that's it.
Actually, it is closer to the very bottom of the lens so easily missed.
I always move it with my left thumb - that's why I said lower left hand side.
So glad you found it Very Happy

I didn't find it either. I had to go back to the camera store where I bought it and ask him how to stop
the lens down. Smile
Glad you can adjust it now.

Sorry only from my back yard. I was too busy in the garden to walk to the park today.
Contrast added.
