I came across this lens today, seems a bit unusual and can't find any info on it and very little on the manufacturer.

at first I thought it would be a differently branded soligor preset T2 lens but on the soligors the aperture ring is at the bottom and on this its at the top.

image quality isn't anything to wrote home about but any info would be appreciated.

Looks similar to this Optomax one.
Click here to see on Ebay

indeed it is, seems to be quite common under the optomax branding, was hoping it was something interesting but it doesn't really compare to my Konica 35mm.

It will be very difficult for 3rd party lens to reach the level of Konica Hexanons. Wink

Itoh seems to have been a low-volume third party outfit in the 1960's.
We have seen a few of these come up here. Just the usual stuff like this one and 135's.
No idea what happened to them. Disappeared quickly, or turned into someone else.

yeah I saw the 135 on here when searching the name brand, from the eBay description the seller gave for optomax he was saying it can be used for UV shots but shouldn't all lenses really be able to do that in some way?

ah, na: Not every lens is able to do UV, depends on coating.
Here's a internal link e.g.:
http://forum.mflenses.com/novoflex-noflexar-35-mm-f-3-5-macro-lens-t57000,highlight,%2Bnovoflex.html

unfortunately I'm not allowed to link to Dr. Schmitt's pages Embarassed , but 'do a goo' with the words "noflexar 35 uv Psychedelic Lilly" and have a look to the fascinating results in UV and info about.

But I think according to these sites sellers call their offer as "UV able" to get better prices.....

Before making such statements, either ask seller first (who, by the way, is a member here), or read the links he provided in his eBay add.

Have to apologise, I didn't want to step on someone's feet, nor I read the ebay offer in this particular case. My post was formulated generally for UV ability of elder lenses.
