Is there anybody know anything about this lens? I stumbled on it today and found zero information except it uses a rear IR filter Laughing

Not for visible light, not even the IR people know, but long wave IR (4-12 microns = 4.000 -12.000nm), most
likely lens elements made from Germanium or Silicon. Not for normal photography, but "thermal" IR.

Thank you, I'm just curious, even though I suspected that, too Laughing
I don't know much about IR photography, so I wonder why they don't make a similar one for visible light Shocked . If there is something like that, it will be very expensive Shocked

It does not looks like "far infrared", more like "near infrared" according to coating colors...

So that wouldn't even allow visible light to pass?

A good read is here:

That's even WAY beyond IR films and what digital sensors can see. Too bad, too, because I imagine that would be a fun optic for IR photography.

There are others that do well in IR, often mirror lenses work very well.

Hmmm... are you sure these are all for thermal IR only, Klaus?
I have an ultra fast "IR-Only" lens with identical looking "glas" made by Leitz somwhere in my junkbox and it works with modified Sony NEX-5N (quite long exposure times but it works! Gives a visible picture in liveview!). The glas looks identical to the glas of the lens above, but it's definitely not made of pure Ge/Si, as it has some transmission in the usable wavelengths.

IQ of the Leitz is quite bad and it's hard to adapt though.
