I just bought a Nikkon to EOS adapter, but on both the lenses i tested, the adapter wiggles when attached to the lens. Doesn't seem very tight and secure like m42 to EOS adapters. Anyone else have this problem and have found solutions? _________________ Canon EOS 5D MK II | EOS M

I have one for a Nikon mount lens that has some play in it. It came with the lens so I wasn't sure if there was a trend. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

If you do not change lens adapters frequently, you can put some tape around the lens mount before installing the adapter. _________________ No longer member , please don't try to contact to him |

I found a quick and easy solution just now
I removed the adapter and then put tiny squares of scotch tape to the bottom of the lens where it meets the adapter - I put 2 layers of tape to 4 different areas of the lens - this creates some friction so you can add more or less if the lens + adapter is tight/loose. Now my lens is secure tightly _________________ Canon EOS 5D MK II | EOS M

I have a Nikon-EOS adapter that I bought recently from an eBay seller. Yes, mine also has some slop. I inspected it carefully and the slop is between the lens and the adapter. But I noticed something about the adapter's construction. There's a circular plate that is held down by a few small screws on the lens side of the adapter that appears it will lift off.
Haven't tried this yet, but this is what I intend to do: cut some shims out of suitable material -- about 0.010" thick and locate them under the circular plate. Add shims until it has the right amount of snugness -- it looks like it needs about 0.020" or so. This should decrease the distance between the lens and the face of the plate without affecting the bayonet mount.
Best,

I bought 2 adapters from separate ebay sellers to see if there were any differences and the first one i got was loose but the second from dslrbaby fit perfectly with no loose movements at all. I would definitely recommend this seller to those wanting to buy adapters. _________________ Canon EOS 5D MK II | EOS M

Were both the adapters you purchased for the same mount? I'm thinking that it's at least possible that an adapter for one system might fit more snugly than an adapter for another system, all things else being equal.

Thanks for the reply. I reckon I'll order one from dslrbaby and hope for the best. I bought mine from ebay seller big_is. It's well made and all, and fits fine, but has just enough slop to be annoying.
Best,

i bought the other adapter from big_is too and that's the one that was loose. they were both inexpensive, but it seems they don't use the same manufacturer. _________________ Canon EOS 5D MK II | EOS M

You don't need Scotch tape to do that.
Most of those adapters (F, C/Y, Leica etc.) have a special device to adjust how firm they fit. You can carefully widen this little slot with a screwdriver.
This makes the adapter stay firmly.
This pic shows the slot.

Adding tape could mess with the lens registration(distance to the sensor) and effect infinity, LucisPictor's advice is I think the preferred method of tightening things up, using one adapter per lens helps keep things tight and the same, especially when using Nikkor lenses since they turn the opposite way when mounting. _________________ A Manual Focus Junky...

Yeah, that's how I do it. My Nikon to EOS adapter was a sloppy fit when I first got it. Widening that little slit slightly took care of the problem. Also, you don't want to widen it too much or it will become very difficult to remove. _________________ Michael

I've put a small piece of thick paper/cardboard between the adapter and lens mount on all of my nikkor lenses, rock solid!
