So I decided to re-juvenate some old lens -
an old Steinheil f1.8/50mm Quarzobjektiv:



and that one delivers!

@f2.7 (old type numbering)


@f9 (old type numbering)


@f9 ultraviolet light


single plant cells of that Rudbeckia flower gets visible! Did you see the aphids?

What was this lens used for originally ?

It came from the Steinheil museum and no-one could tell me what it was used for. Then after having read the Steilheil book, I guess I found out what it was used for: an UV spectrometer. But that's my guess, not a proof. From the shutter age I would say it was made around 1930.
