HOYA WA f4 60mm takes a walk to the park

Well, I took a walk today with an enlarger lens, a HOYA WA f4 60mm - hardly known is,
that it is a Biogon wide angle lens design. So it here it comes (sans sunshade admittedly...)
shot fully open at f4 except when mentioned....

Very nice indeed. Do you know what the coverage is? I'm guessing it's rated for 6x6 but if it will cover 6x9 it would be very useful to me.

All wide angle ELs are hard to find on ebay, the WA Componons appear three of four times a year but always fetch high prices.

I am hunting for the CE-Rokkor 5.6/80mm as that's an Orthometar type. Not at all easy to find, sadly.

6x6 it covers per inscription, doubt it does more. WA lenses are hard to find indeed.

I've always been interested in this one. It also comes labeled as a Bogen WA. Supposed to be a pretty complex design. I remember someone on photo.net having the original brochure and it said it was an 8/4 element/group configuration.

Awww, sorry about that.
Didn't think it was too much of a secret considering that's the first link that comes up if you type Hoya 4/60mm into Google.
Any idea of the actual manufacturer?

Hoya, but some claim it was made by DOI (which might have subcontracted it to them though)

Maybe Kowa, it has been speculated that Hoya ELs were made by Kowa as they are very similar to the Computar ELs.

Actually, I researched that a while back. I don't think the Hoya ELs had anything to do with Kowa.

My thought is that the confusion comes from the link through the Beseler Color Pros. I think the Beselers were originally re-branded Hoya ELs but then Beseler switched their source to Computars (Kowa/Chugai) without changing the Color Pro name. So Hoya is not related to Computar.

leave all transilluminated despite the blowing wind - but it's the result that counts
