I was lucky to get this lens at a great deal off the bay but it seems the focus ring is loose.
The focus ring has some play to it that slightly affects the diaphragm aperture when I try and focus.
If I shake the lens it sounds like something isn't tight.
Does this seem to be a simple issue that can be taken care of or should I return the lens?
If it's manageable repair which micro-screws are to be tightened?
Thanks for the feedback

Take off nameplate (rubber tool). Unscrew the 3 screws that hold the front portion with the filter threads. Next 3 screws under that will tighten the focus ring. If the screws were loose enough the focus ring may have slipped in which case you would need to fine tune infinity. No outer micro screws to deal with. |

Done that, those screws were actually tight, the problem persists and now is even a bit worse, the whole barrel seems a little loose.
Thanks for the tip |

So you mean if you grab the lens by the mount, barrel moves relative to the axis of the lens? |

Correct, if I grab the focus ring and rotate it, the barrel moves and the diaphragm open and closes slightly (play) before the focus can be adjusted |

Most likely the connection between focusing assembly to the mount is loose. I can't say off hand how exactly it's done on Tak, either it's screwed with set screws under dof scale ring, that's how it's done P50/1.7 I have sitting stripped down, or it could just be three screws, that's how it's done on Yashinons. In either case, you might need to go in pretty deep. Should be totally doable though. |

I've just found the focus distance scale on mine has come loose and I found these links. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Thanks all for the tips, it was the screws hiding behind the focus ring that were completely loose, it's back to normal now. |
