Does anyone know when the "fixed" version will be released?

Hi all: I will appreciate if anyone know Samyang 14/2.8 in M42 mount availability? Anyone using with modification in M42. What I have read on net its back element mount too large to fit M42 mount. Is it wise to get a Nikon mount which is with AF and with adapter to use on eos body.

I haven't heard anything about Samyang making things in M42 mount (?)

If you're looking to use on EOS, why not just get the Samyang in EOS mount? The only reason I can think of wanting M42 mount is if (a) you are really hellbent on future-proofing or (b) you want to use on a M42 film camera.

I don't think the Nikon mount is AF. AFAIK all Samyangs are MF only. (Even if it were the AF wouldn't be compatible with EOS's AF system, at least not without some expensive and complicated adapter that hasn't been invented yet to my knowledge.)

Unlike Zeiss, Samyang makes EOS lenses with real manual apertures, so I can't think of a reason for wanting Nikon version for use on EOS, unless you have plans to switch to Nikon.

I want to use with M42 on eos/Pentax/Sony and film cameras so will wait till some one modified in M42.

The Samyang 14/2.8 is only available for Canon EOS, Nikon, Sony and Pentax K mount. I doubt there will ever be a legacy M42 mount version.

I have the Nikon mount version for my Canon full frame bodies and use it with an adapter. That way, if I want AF confirm then I can use a Nikon to Canon AF confirm adapter. *

* I haven't though as I've subequently realised that I dislike AF confirm adapters with a passion Laughing

I was inspired to see your sample in an another thread to pick this lens but in M42 if not then Nikon mount to use with adapter on eos 5d or wait till someone convert to M42.
I have Pentax 17/4 in K mount using with adapter and Nikon 20/3.5 AIs developed fog and lying on shelf.

I personally think it's best to get the Nikon mount one, which you can use on both Nikon and EOS/EF. When using with EOS/EF, get the AF confirm chip.

But for those who dislike the AF confirm chip, you need to get the programmable one that allows front/back focus adjustment.
