Hey, I was wondering if anyone knows what the Minolta md fitting is like and wether or not, with the right adapter, would work well with my panny dmc g3? The actual lens is a Vivitar 70-150mm 1:3.8 close focusing auto zoom.
Thanks,
Brian.

Adapters should be easily available, and many lenses from minolta in that mount are excellent and relatively cheap.
So, in my opinion, getting an adapter is a good idea.

The mount looks like the sixth pic from top in this page

Aanything, this is the pic from eBay, it's the only one that shows any part of the mount. Does that look like the md mount to you? I wasn't sure it did.

Yes that lens has the md connection. Green f/22 and extra tab for automatic aperture.

Thanks. I shall go ahead and bid although no-one else has bid yet so it looks like I should get it for all of 99 English pence and 8GBP postage. Bargain!

I don't know that specific lens, but at 9ukp you can't go much wrong.
My advice however is to get the adapter and look for some minolta lenses.

Am I right in saying that the md and mc are the same fit?

I have this lens and it is surprisingly good as long as it is the Kiron made version which has a serial number starting with 22. There were two matched multipliers made for this lens, a 1.5x and a 2x. the 2x is very common but the 1.5x less so.

Thanks, I've emailed the seller to see which version it is as the picture is at too much of an angle to see the whole number.

Afaik there are some minor differences, but they're fully compatible: both will mount flawlessly in the adapter for your panny

The MC and MD mount lenses should work with the same adapter; my MC and MD mount 50/1.4's work with the same Minolta to Leica mount adapter.

MC or MD only really matter on a Minolta film SLR, adapters don't really care.

The mount although commonly referred to as MC/MD is actually the SR mount mc/d actually refer to different lens series

MC is meter coupled SR mount MD is slightly different and will stop down on automatic cameras. SR/MC/MD for your purpose are all the same. PM sent

In my experience if you have Minolta lenses, avoid the big_is adapters, they dont always lock the lens, or at least require a lot of fiddling. My best one is FOTGA branded. Much better.
