Hey guys and gals, I got my new Helios lens yesterday, but it has one speck of fungus inside, I think it's in the middle glass, but from the front side... because when I tried to clean it from back side, it didn't came off.. So I have to get front glass off, but I don't know how, is it similar like back side, because I can't unscrew it, maybe some of you may know?

When I remember correctly, you have to unsrcew the ring with the name of the lens first.
It has two tiny holes. When you can't unscrew it with bare hands, stick a tiny screwdriver into one of the holes and use that to get a better grip.
The you can screw off the second (thin) ring, which holds the lens into place.

It's shame about the fungus, they are great lenses. I bought one off eBay a couple of weeks ago, £13 including shipping, thankfully it's in mint condition.
Good luck with your repair and let us know how you get on. I have a Tokina with fungus on the front glass , which I want to remove, but I need to remove a slight dent in the filter ring before I can unscrew the front. _________________ Alan. |

@ForenSeil I just can't unscrew that ring, did you use some tool for that or something?
@killwilly it's not that bad, I can say that it doesn't effect photos but I can't watch it sitting there I also have 44M-5 MC version, without fungus, only light scratches on front glass... _________________ Olympus E-520
