Nice, Klaus. Do you detect a slight yellow tint? I have two and one definitely has yellow tint.

Yes, it has a slight yellow tint, but nothing to worry about. Can be balanced out easily.

Yes, my experience as well with this 1961 RF version. After correcting, I sometimes find I like the warmer tint from the yellowing. My first reaction to the lens was that it seemed soft at f/2, but after reviewing pictures later I thought it acceptable sharp. Still, I think my M39 version is sharper. Here is an uncorrected sample from my '61 RF.

What version is the one to get? There are many generations.

When I was looking, I read a lot of comments about the black ones being hit and miss. I targeted the older ones and am happy with both. My '66 M39 is the better of the two.

My M39/LTM version is from LZOS made 1963 and appears to have a blueish colored coating. At least there is no yellowing.

Unfortunately no real flowers available this time of the year. Focus was set to the red rose in the middle.

F2:

I am rather satisfied with this lens.

Be careful, there are several different versions: M39/LTM (28.8 flange focal distance), M39/Zenit (45.2 flange focal distance), Contax/Kiev mount and M42 and from different production plants (LZOS, KMZ, etc.).

To identify the production plant this may be helpful: http://cameras.alfredklomp.com/logos/

Good luck! Wink

I had two 1971 black versions in M-42.

One was better than the others. Why? Badly work in this? Who knows?

Sharp form F/4, like the literature says. The best at F/8

At F/2 was soft. My Cron 90/2 no AA (form 1977) is better at F/2.

In the 90's there were more J9 at the market, no so now.

Yellowish cast, easy to fix in PP and the IQ was better.

Nice lens.
