Help with Quick Exakta mount to Nikon

I am a little confused by where exactly the front element of the lens should be in relation to the opening of the Nikon body. Should the lens be more inside, or more outside the camera body to achieve the full focal range? I notice that the top of my adapter is pretty flush with the Exakta mount, so it doesn't look like the lens body will go much inside the camera body.

Also, is infinity focus really that important for most landscape or people shots?

Does anyone have some picture examples of using the m39/0-ring mod using a CJZ tessar 50 2.8?

Also, what exactly does the set-pin you remove for this mod do?

Thank you.

I have a CJZ tessar 50 2.8 too, but I am not aware there is existing adapter from Eka mount to Nikon F mount. you have to convert it as I know.

There is not a pre-made converter you can buy. Elsewhere in the forum, someone posted a way to use the Exakta mount with Nikon. You use an m39 to Nikon converter, and a rubber o-ring.

Do a search for "Quick Exacta Mount Nikon" or something along those lines and you will find it.

Thanks.

There are several ways to make your own mechanical adapters like this.
The problem though is that they do not solve the back focus problem, and you will not get infinity focus with this lens.

I have managed to solve this problem on some lenses. I fit Exakta lenses on Pentax K with my own adapters. A similar approach would work with Nikon, as that mount is nearly the same as Pentax K.

This is how I fixed a Zeiss Biotar 75/1.5 -

Mechanical adapter - the o-ring idea is good, but best for small light lenses

Infinity adjustment.

The infinity adjustment is not possible on all lenses, and different lenses would have different ways to adjust this.
