This lens has a very good MF mechanism. Even in AF mode the lens switches to MF and a magnified view when you touch the MF ring. The fly-by-wire focusing action is very smooth but without any mechanical resistance, which means you've got to turn the ring in a controlled way. The display shows the position of the magnified section within the whole frame, the position can be adjusted as desired. There is no focus peaking, but the magnified display is so clear that I didn't find it lacking.
