Nice samples, it seems a good one.
I'd be curious to see how it compares to the kaleinar 5, since I was not certain about which to buy of the two.
Then I got a chance to buy a kaleinar for €25, and went for that. _________________ C&C and editing of my pics are always welcome

The older lenses have a lot less contrast. Compare this to a modern 100mm prime and you'll see what I mean. Although the modern lens will look more crisp, there is something that the older glass seems to have.
#2 suits this lens best of the bunch I think. I'm not sure the cat pic is what this lens will do best at as the detail is no quite there. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

The Trioplan is a love/hate type of lens. It's one of my favourite and most used, but I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

There are at least two types of the Orestor, the Zebra type with 14 blades and the Orestor equal to the Pentacon
Edit: there is also two Zebra types, so at least 3 different designs. _________________ Lars | Manuellfokus.no |

It also depends on the camera (sensor). Most legacy lenses were very contrast-poor on my E-P1.
But on the Fuji X-E1 they produce a lot more contrast. |

But reason could be grease condensation residues so frequently found on Pentacons and very much age related. Clean that off and Mayer / Pentacon still rocks! _________________ ---------------------------------

Not the sharpest lens out there, but with very nice rendering. Stopped down, the bokeh (with my sample) is pretty weird, due to the not-rounded aperture blades, but at f/2.8-4 it's very pleasent.
Example, f/2.8 and 5.6
