Hi, I've been reading this forum for a while, and recently got from the local market in Bulgaria the above lens, cost about 30 EUR. It is not bad wide open on digital bodies - Canon 550D & Panasonic GX1, just lacks contrast and has some CA and purple fringing, easily fixed in post processing. It's sharp enough at f4 and above. It's small and lightweight for a 2.8 lens. Focusing is hard on a m4/3 body with enlarged LiveView, it shakes a lot.
The lens itself:
Some samples, wide open w/o any PP, just resized to 1600 pixels:
100% crop:
F4:
100% crop /ISO 640/:
And one processed at f4 /again at ISO640, just forgot it in a bright sunny day /

Thanks, forgot the first post & beginners rule.
Another one, full size @2.8, to see the sharpness /or lack of it/, no PP:

Nice looking lens.
Welcome to the forum.
The last image at f4 is very good.
Looks a little soft wide open.
Cheers

Not too shabby. It performs as expected. Definitely a low level grade 2 lens. A 135 is usually pretty good quality I tested all mine once and saw almost no difference.
In my opinion you paid a little too much - but to be fair I think we all have done that at some time. Sometimes if you want something you've just got to pay the asking price / bid as much as you can afford. However now you have it, it works just fine, so just use it.
Grade 1 lens any lens with very noticeable lack of quality
Grade 2 Most third party lenses and manufacturers own lenses. Perform from a very acceptable to excellent degree.
Grade 3 The top of the range lenses that not many of us can afford _________________ Hero in the 'messin-with-cameras-for-the-hell-of-it department'. Official. |
