A friend of mine wants to swap his Pentacon (Orestor) 135mm f/2.8 15-blade Zebra (aka 'Bokeh Monster')
for my Konica Hexanon 135mm f2.5.
Both in execellent condition.
Is this a good deal? Which is worth more? and which is better ?
Thx,

Which is better is subjective. I wouldn't proceed with trade: Pentacon (Meyer) prices will probably stabilize around 150 EUR long-term since there were many made. Konica might snatch more due to rarity, again long-term. Speculating . _________________ ---------------------------------

Personally, I think you should keep the Hexanon as it's much less common than the Meyer/Pentacon.
If you shop around, you can find the Meyer/Pentacon with 16 blades for a good price, the later MC versions with 6 blades are much cheaper and I think just as good. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it!

Not really rare but not common and fetches a good price often. The Pentacon is much more common. It's a good lens but there's a lot of variation between copies, some are better than others so you might own several before you get a really good one. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it!

You didn't read carefully enough Ian, op say Zebra Pentacon (ORESTOR) which is different lens than what you suggest (latests) and 3x more expensive too as Jure said exactly 100-150 EUR level not 50 EUR.
What you looking for bokeh ? or something else, Meyer, Pentacon Zebra is bokeh champion monster, Konica will not come to even close if you use it properly like many friends from Asia. If you point and shoot like others Konica is better lens. One of the last lens what I willing sell is Zebra Pentacon 135mm, not common lens also.I think zebra Orestor and Pentacon Zebra have different bokeh probably, need to test them side by side.
Pentacon is usable on all mirrorless, DSLR and film cameras, Konica is not. _________________ -------------------------------

Sorry, I assumed that as the OP already owned the Hexanon, they had a camera which it fit.
While I do really like the Meyer/Pentacon 135, I prefer the later MC versions and don't mind not having 16 blades. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Thx, I followed your advice and I kept my Hexanon.
I'm gonna give this lens a try again and look for a cheap Pentacon. I'm not in a hurry. |

I think this is a good strategy. They're both quite different. It's been said many times that 135mm lenses are the easiest lens to make well. But there is variation in personality. I have a few of the different Hexanon's and like each of them, but right now I'm shooting with a Jupiter 37A. Not because it is "better" but because it is different. _________________ Cameras; Sony Nex5n Lenses; Konica Hexanons; 21mm f2.8, 40mm f1,8, 50mm f1.4, 50mmf1.7,57mm f1.4, 100mm f2.8, 135mm f3.2, 200mm f4, MC Helios 77M-4 50mm f1.8, Jupiter 8 50 f2, Super Takumar 85mm f1.9, Vivitar Series 1 90mm f2.5 (Macro), Steinheil Munchen Culminar 85mm f2.8, Steinheil Munchen Exagon 35mm f2.8, Jupiter 37A 135mm, Astra Berlin 135mm f3.5, Angenieux 180mm f4 , Tair 3-PhS 300mm f4.5 |
