I got this lens for Nikon mount today, but have not have a chance to try it out yet. Could anyone comment on the performance of this lens. It is huge, and the zoom portion is the sliding type.
I bought it as part of a package of a used Nikon EM camera with battery grip, a 50mm Nikon series E f1.8 lens, and a 28-70mm Sigma macro zoom lens. They are all cost less than $100 9all manual lenses). I tried the 50mm and the Sigma lens and they were great! I have not tried the camera yet, although the light meter and the motor drive appears to work. |

Well, you certainly bought it at the right price. Go out and shoot with it, and let us know what you think. _________________ Michael

It's just alright. Nothing special. Like many of the newer Vivitar's, it doesn't deserve the Series 1 label. It's not a dog. You may like it.

Any love for this lens? I can get a nice one at a very good price, but I don't really need one - I have 500 Canon ,Tamron and Samyang mirror lenses and all kinds of stuff up to 300 and a couple of 400's.
It has an 09****** serial number - Cosina maybe?
It's not a lens that I'd use a lot, but if it is good I might be persuaded to spend £50 _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....

Thanks Russ, there's a few 'positive' reviews on the Pentax Forum, but it's hard to know if the reviewers have any experience of similar lenses to compare it against. If there's someone who knows their way around the Viv S1 lenses it's you, so I think I'll save my money on this lens. _________________ LENSES & CAMERAS FOR SALE.....
