Hello.

I've opened a topic while ago, about my purchase of plane mounted military camera lens assembly. Finally, I've assembled it into something useful. Here are the sample shots. All wide open, no post processing or sharpening, except resize and setting gamma to 0.5 (my NEX 3 seems to dislike manual lens in common).

Weather was not particularly bokeh-friendly, so this is best I've got:

It has 13 blade circular aperture even Smile

As weather gets better, will try to do some more shots...

While I don't have full frame DSLR, I've installed this for tests on full frame film camera. There is no noticeable vignetting or dark corners in the viewfinder, this means this lens covers FF also?

Bokeh nice and swirly, putting Helioses to shame Smile

and a nice lack of sharpness, yeah Laughing

Well... it's not the sharpest tool in the box, but still usable for creative photography and filming. Smile

I haven't installed aperture yet, so it is interesting, how it will perform stopped down.

I have 100/1.8 (Planar), 140/1.8 (Petzval) on the queue to be adapted...

Do you have any easy way to adapt those lenses? I also have some nice petzvals (Polish Polkinar) and planars (I suppose it's planar - Isco Super-Kiptar 75/1,6) waiting to be used Smile

Since my Petzvals are from medium format, they have huge register distance, so I've for test mounted them on M42 bellows and using it for focusing, but weight and handling is just nightmare.

Yep, I know. I have the same solution, but I've ordered M4/3>bellows adapter (custom made). This way, lenses with shorter flange distance could be adapted, but using it handheld is almost impossible.

Kiptars are not Planar designs from what I know.

@kds315 you're right. I based my assumptions on diassembled lens. Wikipedia says it's gauss type: http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Projektionsobjektiv

Great work!

Please take a photo of the lens. I'd like to see what it looks like. Cheers.

Sure, but it does not looks like anything recognisable.

Since I got only spares set from it, it consisted of glass elements, aperture assembly and spacers between them.

I've used parts from various camera lenses, M42 focusing helicoid, scotch tape, insulation tape and so on, to assemble it Smile

I have several kits of these components remaining, when I'll develop a normally looking design for them, maybe I'll sell a couple of them assembled.

I have completed assembly of this lens, so it looks normal and can be mounted on M42 mount for Sony NEX. I want to sell it, how do you think, what will be a good price for it/
