Can anyone clarify why the red "T" on a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 3.5 / 50mm M42 mount lens has two additional lines, one through the middle and one at the bottom? Also, serial # is 3670118 -- early-to-mid 1950s?

Thanks!

I have a small Carl Zeiss Jena 1Q Tessar 2,8/50 M42 with 14 blades #3635736 (circa1953)
with the same sign.....

I first thought it was a fake but Klaus (kds315*) assured me it wasen't...

I realy love that lens, one of my first MFLenses, even if i own better ones....
It was serviced by a pro and is now silky smooth and shinny....

But i can't tell you anything about the special red "T" sign.... i'll be glad if someone can ...

Could it be part of the ongoing trademark issue between Carl Zeiss East and West?

No, because if so, it was say 'aus Jena T'.

Western Zeiss at this same time put a gothic F on some lenses as a coating mark instead of the T.

I've never found an explanation of that, but the lenses do exist.

Have a Biotar 58mm f2 in Exakta mount with the same marking on the lens, the spacing between adjacent apertures are not constant. That is to say, the gap between f8 to f11 is narrower than f2 to f2.8. Incidentally, the serial number also starts with 36. I am using firefox and was not able to post pictures, it there a way to do it with firefox? Thanks for any suggestion...
