Anyone heard of a Travenar lens being made in Japan?

Yes . . . but only the name was used. Whatever Japanese lenses carry it, they are Japanese in design as well as manufacture. After the Schacht firm went out of business someone bought the right to use the name, I think, similar to what happened with Voigtlander.
