this is my latest lens from ebay Very Happy - Dallmeyer 80mm / 1.5. Looks and feels great and is in fact:

Quote:
Octac This was a fast and well corrected lens for Oscilloscope recording. It was noted as a
?100mm f1.5, ?8-glass Gauss and a 80mm f1.5 lens marked 1:1 has also been seen at No693,12x, blue
coated and showing the 2x 7 reflexions required for a lens with 4 glasses back and front with two cemented
surfaces.
(lens vade mecum)

Now whilst it does make a wonderful paperweight does anyone think it'll work with 5x4? My graflex is burried in the box room at the moment and will take an age to excavate before I can try. Any thoughts? Any use beyond macro?

A beauty !

I've been trying to buy one of these for a while (Wollensak Oscillo-Raptar, Kodak Fluro-Ektar, etc.), but someone always snatches it.

It may not have coverage for 4x5, but you never know. I have heard that these oscilloscope lenses were designed for roll-film (120 or 70mm and similar).

I suggest you may want to try it with a 120 roll-film back, if you can get one for your 4x5. The Graflex ones for 4x5 are pretty common. I was doing mostly that with my 3x4 Speed Graphic. It may be an interesting ("pictorial") lens for portraits on a smaller format.
