The 100mm Pentacon is a lens I've had on the shelf for a while, but never really used. Until today when I took it for a test on my Canon EOS 6D. These are only snap shots but I wanted to demonstrate the difference in bokeh from f/2.8 to f/4. Click for larger versions.

#1 - f/2.8

#2 - f/4

#3 - f/2.8

#4 - f/2.8

#5 - f/4

Whilst I think the bokeh stopped down is kinda funky, part of me wishes they'd released this lens as a preset model too...

As for lens performance, it's a bit early to tell from these samples. I have some other samples of people at distance and there is some purple fringing, so not sure this lens is perfect. Great for portraits though IMO.

I like samples and lens both worth to have it, earliest Meyers are great both mechanically and optically. Latest Pentacon still great optically and crappiest built lens ever. I had to buy 5 copies once I found one without issue.

Well, not the crappiest ever. My Pentacon had clogged blades, but they are very easy to access and clean, beside that there were no mechanical issues at all. Needless to say that Zeiss Jena zebras also have plenty of mechanical issues, ranging from dried lubricant in helicoid to clogged blades.

Very acceptable shots, nice ones, i would say. My pocket is a Pentacon fanboy, addicted.
There is one i'm keeping an eye at ebay right now for a hundred bucks, or so, it will go. What do you think, worth it? Between 85 and 135 i'm completely uncovered at this moment.

Well, for about hundred of bucks you can have mine. I am overstocked on teles anyway. The lens has no issues, excellent cosmetics as well.

What is the luck, today I got a copy to try from friend of mine, this is okay , but had to serviced too.

Lol, reminds me the luck I had with Vivitar/Kiron 28mm/f2. Every single one I scored came with non-working aperture. What is the issue with this one?

Renato, you've got mail Wink

My Pentacon 135 has never let me down and has been my go-to tele. But the 100mm looks just as nice. There' a Meyer zebra version on the bay right now for a decent price and is mighty tempting. . .

They are lot better made than Pentacon 100, I had 10+ from 135mm all were issue free.
