Hi,
Does somebody know if the Tokina AT-X 28-85 f3.5-4.5 was available in m42 mount as well? I searched for it but couldn't find any info.
Thanks,
Diddy

Is it optically different then RMC version 4/28-85? http://allphotolenses.com/lenses/item/c_1582.html

Yes, I think so. Thanks for the link. I am trying to get the most recent version available.
I am not too sure how these two versions compare, but I would assume the later one is the better one.

I dont think any Tokina ATX lens where made in m42 mount, ive had 28-85,60-120-2.8,80-200-2.8, in nikon+konica mt.all ATX,ive had the RMC 28-85 in m42 mt sharper & bigger than the ATX 28-85.

Thanks for letting me know. So if the older one is sharper, then I should go for this one. Are there any differences in terms of lens coating and color reproduction?

If you'll look for F4 RMC version, don't forget it was available also branded as Hoya:

Some test found:

Ah, thanks a lot! Yes, indeed ... now I remember, I had Hoya 24mm and 28mm lenses which were rebranded Tokina lenses. Are you happy with the color reproduction? I can remember that my Hoya prime wide angle lenses had quite muted/bale colors?
