How difficult is it to remove the lens from a Yashica Dental Eye II camera? I can pick one of these cameras up dirt cheap. But I will have to travel a little ways to pick it up. It has the 100mm f4. lens "permanently" attached. This would be a very inexpensive way to obtain a macro lens. But I wandering how much disassembly of the camera will be required. Once removed will it have manual aperture control? I am a machinist with over 20 years of experience. So altering a t-mount plate to fit the lens should not be a problem. However before I drive 30 miles to get the camera I'd ask to see if any of ya'll have done this before.

It's a standard C/Y mount lens, you just remove the plug that's been put where the lens release button would be on the left hand side of the mount then press in the release lever. You will have to unplug the wiring harness too, I think you have to take the bottom plate off the camera to get to that.

The aperture is electronic so you can't control it, limits you to shooting it wide open or you can delve into the lens innards, find the aperture linkage and jam it at fully closed.

%$#@! it! No apeture control. That is what I was afraid of. Thanks for you knowledge on the matter. I think I'll go a different route.

Adapter with aperture available on Ebay to SONY-NEX EOS + an EOS +C/Y adapter and you will have aperture..
APerture alone also available in different diameter.

Most inexpensive solution if you make a cardboard aperture series and use what you need.

Is the original Dental Eye the same as Dental Eye II with the apeture?

Yashica Dental Eye(I) 55/4 fixed on yashica FX-3
Yashica Dental Eye II 100/4 Yashica 108 or 109(which one is it?)
Yashica Dental Eye III 100/4 Contax RX based. I have that one plus canon BP5(battery-pack for 2CR5). 5400mah NimH, there are more powerful ones 10000mah. i wouldnt use AA-eneloops with mono(D)-adapters. maybe rechargeable 2CR5. I will buy it but have no great hopes it will last long enough. at least not in eos5 with motordrive 5p/sec.
Interestingly the scale cannot be used except at the start 1/15 and end 1/1. inbetween no scale visible! i dont understand.
In google there is a description how to take apart a 100/4 to attach on canon. could be a canon-forum.
