I rarely use my EOS 5D any more. Just bring this cam when I either feel like shooting with my manual SLR lenses or need some really wide angle. Or when I want to take photos of my kids playing sports, but there I sometimes prefer the Nikon D3100 (which is a really adequate little camera).

In most cases I bring my M8 and my NEX-7 with a bunch of nice lenses. This set fits into a very small bag.

But sometimes, I want a really compact Point'n'Shoot - but I do not want to accept poor image quality!

So far, I have often used the Sigma DP1s (which is not fast enough for a P'n'S) or the Leica Digilux-2 (which I really love, but which should not be used with ISO higher than 200 and this is restricting sometimes).

Some time ago a good friend of mine showed me (and allowed me to play with) some of his cams. The one that really surprised me was the Nikon 1 V1. And - you guys know that feeling - something started to boil in my guts until it turned into an irresistible urge. Wink

So I took the plunge.

First impressions? It's definitely no substitute for a DSLR or, say, a NEX. Basically all "auto", manual settings only via the menu.
But it's the probably the best compact P'n'S cam I can think of ATM.

Lightning fast, very well built and the IQ is outstanding, if we consider the size of the 1-inch-sensor.

It could not be my only cam, but it's a perfect "third cam". (Yeah, I know first-world-problems. )
And you can find it for below €300,-!

Anyway, I really like it!

(But now I need to sell things again, in order to fill up the budget.)

I think its a bit fancy for a P&S. Mine is no fuss, automatic and does the job nicely and at a fraction of the cost.

I bet before long you will be buying adapters...
