I hate new cameras There's much hype and they are costly. And there are several roads to explore.
I've come into some gift certificates from my company, having lasted 25 years in their employ. I took the money in Amazon - being they didn't have B&H or KEH listed as possibilities I also diligently use my Amazon credit card which piles up Amazon points. Therefore I can get a camera for near zero cost, or at least at a significantly reduced cost.
My progress: I start out thinking the Pentax K-30 is the camera to get in APS-C. I have lenses for it, it has focus peaking and SR.
My daughter will be a photo major. So naturally I started to think about a Nikon D600. I have lenses for it also, but at over $2K for a kit, it's rather rich. (I'd rather have auto aperture with Nikon than auto nothing on more lenses with Canon, when it comes to full frame. And who knows if Pentax will come out with one this year)
But to test the Nikon waters I bought a F100. A wonderful camera. But it got me to thinking, a D300s or D300 might suffice, especially bought used, but there's the APS-C again. Hmm.
Meanwhile I found a cheap used NEX C3 kit. A fun little camera, one I'll probably want to use a focusing cloth for... There's a something-6-something that has the evf. Maybe the way to go....
But then I keep seeing stuff about the Fujis. The X100/s is absolutely gorgeous, but I hanker to play with lenses. Enter the X-e1. Price is right, there are low cost adapters for the lenses I'd like to adapt...
Now, please understand: I'm not eager to resolve this dilemma, I want to stare at the candy for quite a while longer
Has anyone here tried the X-e1? _________________ -Jussi

I have the X-Pro1, which I really like. The sensor should be the same as that of X-E1. |

Sensor wise I think the Fuji beats everything except maybe full frame.
The controls and Looks are fantastic.
I would say lack of IBIS and slow AF are the cons. For legacy glass I really like this cam. |

thank you both --- this is good to know; to tell the truth I am a bit depressed about the prospect of another DSLR. The Fuji seems like a fantastic camera for what I want. I won't mind selling off my Nex C3 either. _________________ -Jussi

At least, unlike the NEX, the Fuji looks like a real camera ! |

That is a consideration for sure. I'm surprised Sony hasn't come out with a "stainless steel" version to coordinate with the rest of the kitchen appliances. Oh, I guess the silver ones have the brushed steel look.
I think I'd get the all black Fuji, not that I don't like the silver one, but so I can take a family portrait of it next to the GM670. _________________ -Jussi
