I used ascension day to work with my 'new' Packard shutter. I build the pneumatic part of the mechanics as well as flash synchronization and lens front coupling system.
Here it is from the front:
Sorry bout the quality; took photos quite hasty with 3200ASA.
The pump is usual ear pump from Pharmacy, the tube is a car oil hose from local Class Ohlsson (still have 9.8 meter spare). The cabel was cut of the wirieless transmitter connection cable. The flash synchronization relay also helps the shutter to close - I had some trouble with it and already tested using a little extra weight.
The shutter is model #6 with about 90mm hole (3.5 inches), and it has also an instant mode. I tried it with a paper clip, and I succeeded to have shutter closen by forcing the moving part all the way up. But the air pressure has not power enough. I think some of the leaves are bended or losen, and I'll have to have the shutter fixed by a specialist.
I am calling the device as "Ilmalla suljettava reikä" which is something like "A hole which can be/will be enclosed by air". I don't know what would be proper English name... "Air sealable hole?"
Here's the device from the back. There's a Cokin P-series filter hood attached with a duck tape, and a Cokin P-series adapter attached with the hood. I choosed to attach the hood instead of cut filter holder attachment from which I got the idea. With not cutting the adapter I can use Cokin filters, especially ND-filter, which gives me opportunity to use bigger apertures. I only need to add some removable black textile with rubber band or something to seal the filter holder.
The system ain't really beautiful and constructed mainly with the help of duck tape, but on the other hand, it's quite easy to dismantle for the service. _________________ Cameras : Canon AT-1, Minolta 7, Minolta 800Si, Minolta 700Si, Yashica Mat 124G, Sony NEX-3, Sony A-580, Sony A-850, Arax66, Graflex Graphic, Mentor Atelier, FKD 18x24
