I had a chance to try this stunning lens , may I can own it also as trade with Bill , many thanks to generous offer.

Pretty amazing, I think best from all 1.4 Japanese lenses what I did try.

#1 is heavily cropped , #2 around F2, #3 wide open.

Pretty decent IQ, great results! Try some more wide open pics to see if any improvement, love the bokeh, notwithstanding.

The Topcor 2.8/100 is going for crazy money over here right now, can remember ebay auctions going for around $80USD, but not
any more. The whole line seems wonderful to me.

Still all cheap if you look it's quality agree they are above on many others, they have place in elite team.

I rate this lens above than Konica, Minolta, Pentax , Nikkor etc . I had once 100mm too , was also better than Konica Hexanon 100 and you know I love Konicas.

Yes, it is sad that now they only make lenses for the Horseman cameras.

I love the Topcors I have, they really are stunning lenses.

I would love a Horseman 4x5 and some Topcos to fit it, they are available from Japan secondhand pretty cheap but postage and customs destroy the deal for me.

Ha, it may be Zeiss Planar level (although I am a bit sceptical that this will hold if one is really critical or conditions are not ideal: coatings improved significantly from 60 to 70), but it's also Zeiss Planar price and inferior mount. The pictures do look great though.

H'mm you digital guys are better off than a film user....I don't really want to buy and old Topcon camera to try their lenses Sad Anyway in the 1960's I don't remember many pros or amateurs using em...but then maybe my memory is faulty or they were very popular in the USA Question

I had Topcor 100 what made for US Navy, years before , I remember I bought at autumn and sold after test , due I couldn't afford to keep it, at boring late autumn light , she did perform like Zeiss T* and surely was above all other Japanese lenses what I did try.

I have a Zeiss sonnar 18cm L39 from 1941 , millitary lens it has also same or minimal less coating than Zeiss 180mm T*.

I can see it now why this F1.4 is very expensive.

Not more than average 1.4 from a good brand like Nikon.
