I just found this Soligor T-Mount pre-set 105/2.8 in very nice condition. Serial # KA22539.

Can anyone tell me the maker?

Nope, I don't think there would be a positive ID on this one.
Maybe someone here has something we can ID.

I can tell you what it isn't, which could narrow things down a bit -

Not Tokyo Koki/Tokina, not Kawakami/Kawanon, not Sankyo/Sankor. We know what the preset 1960's 135/2.8's from this lot looked like, and this isn't it.

Not one of the independents like Komura, Norita, ditto.

Could be -
Nittoh/Komine, because of some resemblances to a 180mm I've got.

But who knows. There were other players and several made lenses to match the Allied Impex desired style of the day.

That's my f/3.5 Tokina made lens.
The f/2.8 Tokina preset looks like this -

There are a lot of very similar features to many of these lenses, but you have to look under the skin to see whats really different.

Proportions are quite different with this one.

If I haven't seen the corresponding Kawanon f/2.8 I would be suspecting them, as among other things they tended to look a lot like Tokinas, but the known Kawanon f/2.8's are also quite different.

wait, sorry, that was a 135 I showed you. I was looking at your post and thinking "135" instead of "105".
This is probably the result of old age-related dementia.

The Tokina-made 105/2.8 preset is this one -

For what its worth, since we are talking of a 105mm and not a 135mm, I would guess that yours is most likely a Kawanon -
Kawakami Seiki Seisakusho Ltd

Here is a Kawanon 135. There is a strong family resemblance to your 105

What can you tell me about this one? Aperture is 10 blades. It has an interchangeable screw-on mount, which is not a T-mount, the thread diameter is larger. Superficially it looks similar to Tokina, but feets and meters are interchanged.

This one is definitely a Tokina. Tokina had those wider-than-T2 mounts (47mm wide I believe). Another thing they had were serial numbers beginning with an "H". So this is an early Tokina.

It could be a Kyoei Acall made lens. I saw several Soligors with KA serials and a couple had lens shades with Kyoei Acall marking. Wink

Thanks, great info here. The mount thread should be wider than 49mm. On the second shot you can see where the interchangeable mount attaches to the lens itself, and that part is quite a bit wider than the 49mm filter thread, should be around 52-55mm. Any idea on when was this produced?

Thanks for the replies! I forgot to mention it has 14 blades.

Yes, a very strong resemblance. And, the "KA ..." serial number on mine suggests "Kawanon" too (though, then again, that may mean nothing).

It's a nice little portrait lens. Somewhat soft wide open but that's fine for portraits.

Ha, I was just about to reply with the same thing. Kawanon. I had the kawanon pictured in the link... never used it really. Traded it for a 50mm 1.4 super-tak . but definitely a dead ringer for your soligor.
