Received this lens a couple of weeks back along with a Meritar 50mm F2.9 for the princely sum of £3.99 , It had filter damage but lens was ok.
Managed to knock the filter ring damage out and i have placed a rubber hood on that is now on permanently
So i had to run some quick errands in town and i took it along with the NEX as it was not raining and the sun was shinning for in what seems like a lifetime.
Most of these shot at the mark between F5.6 and F8 so F7 i guess

One must click through for the original sized image to get a proper appreciation of the quality, and it is very good. Remains one of my favorites. I have the Meyer Lydith, but I understand they are the same. I hope so because my Lydith has haze and I've purchased two more of the Pentacon hoping to get one great set of glass.

A good lens indeed and your samples shows it clearly.

I love mine. I have both the Lydit and Pentcon versions. The only difference is the coating (and look of it). The lydith is prone to Flare, the pentacon, not so much.

I love the strong colours I get from mine, it's a lens that I 'trust' - I know what it can do, and it always seems to do it.

I apologize for my question, but perhaps my old eyes are really tired, or the lens is not so sharp.

Good colors and contrast, yes, it does very good. But resolution? I don't find the pentacon 30 mm. as a sharp lens.

Am I wrong?

It is sharp. Not the sharpest, but bear in mind they are very cheap, and the sharpness is far better than "acceptable". Some of my best shots have been on this lens, and I drag them underground a lot, often where I *cannot* go back to re-shoot. I would not be doing that with a soft lens.

Please don't ask for pictures, as a lot of the locations I visit are sensitive/out of bounds/not meant to be visited, and I cannot post up pictures, no matter how unlikely You are to know where they are.

Have you opened the full sized images behind the ones displayed?
