Hello everyone, and merry Christmas!
I was on the market for a short tele for my NEX and I remembered I had an old Russian lens from my ex-gf lying around somewhere. Turns out it's a Jupiter-11 135/4, but I need help identifying the mount to buy the proper adapter. It doesn't look like a regular screw m42/m39 mount. I've been browsing ebay and it doesn't look like a contax mount, either. Anyway, I want to test it out and see if it's a dog or a keeper!
I took some pictures:
Any help will be appreciated! Thanks in advance

DIY modify to an unknown one , can you show picture from rear view ?
I think you will not find any 'dog' Russian lens ever, if may do actual copy has faulty, wrongly assembled in DIY repair etc.
Good lens you will love it. _________________ -------------------------------

Haha, you were right, WolverineX! I used some tweezers and managed to unscrew the piece.
It's m39, for which i have no adapter yet. But I had an m42 for my Nikon and an m39->m42 ring, so this is the lens on the D90:
I don't know much about it, but it operates well, the diaphragm clicks nicely and the blades are clean for a lens this old. It's single coated and has quite some dust inside, but otherwise it's perfectly clean and the glass looks pristine. And the focus is buttery smooth! These are some quick & dirty shots with the D90:
f/4
f/4
f/8
f/4
f/5.6
It's quite sharp at f/4, but contrast is low (perhaps because of the dust?). From there it's razor sharp to these eyes! All in all, a good buy for zero euros... looks like Santa came early for me this year!
Thanks a lot for the help, guys! |

Dust reduce contrast in large amount only, if glass covered for example with fine powder, early lenses has typical feature low contrast and many of them cleaned already with coating all together. Either you like low contrast output or fix it in pp, usually just a click auto contrast.I like especially last image. _________________ -------------------------------

I don't think anyone identified the bayonet adapter yet....It's not a DIY job.
It's the actual adapter supplied with the Soviet Start: http://www.sovietcams.com/index.php?1924317261 to covert it to m39. |

I'm beginning to like low contrast too, specially for portraits. I'm going to try and learn more from the lens, and try disassembling and cleaning it. It's in such good shape I think it will be worth it!
Thanks Attila! |

Sorry, I just snapped this quick. Mine's an earlier J11 so the cosmetics are slightly different. |

It's a wonderful lens My M39 copy doesn't reach infinity though, I guess it's a register issue. _________________ Graham - Moderator
