What do you think of the bundled software on the CD? Not sure whether every model of camera has the same bundle, but my NEX-7 came with two programs -

a) Image Data Converter ver. 4 - primarily for opening .ARW files and converting to JPG
Maybe I need to spend more time with this, but my impression is that it's quite limited in scope, not a patch on the Canon DPP equivalent. I've found Photoshop CS6 can open and edit these files, so I'm using that in preference, but most of the time I'm shooting in JPG Fine mode to avoid having to convert. Is there a better answer?

b) PMB - a kind of image library organiser, similar to iTunes for music.
I detest organisers like this. I've uninstalled PMB and deleted it. Does anybody have anything good to say about it?

My message to Sony is that the software is letting you down. Sad

PMB can be useful if you have the Sony GPS and you want to sync the coordinates captured with it with your pictures.

I don't use the Sony software to be honest.

I imagine you must shoot in RAW mode Carsten? If so, what software do you use?

LR 3.6 can deal pretty well with ARWs...

I don't use the bundled software either and don't see why anyone else would want to when there are so many better alternatives available, many of them even free.

I like LR4.2, never even touched the bundled software.

Nex cameras have poor jpg-quality and the software awful. I use Gimp and Ufraw.

+1

I never used the bundle. LR is a must.
I also convert all the RAW to DNG to store the pictures in a compatible format.
Then I process them with LR and get a JPG to publish/watch.

Jes.

I did think I had replied to this, but maybe not...

I don't touch the supplied software. Bridge to browse RAW's, Photoshop to work them, and export for Web as a .jpg

I use Aperture - and my version of Aperture is not opening the ARWs, and Apple wants me to upgrade to Mountain Lion for that.

So for the time being, I'm using Adobe's DNG converter and open the DNGs with Aperture. I tried the Sony software, and closed it almost immediately, looks crappy.

Try Acdsee pro 6.0 99 USD only or in promotion even less, I use it from 5 yrs now, it has batch process ability, one of the easiest excellent software.

The one supporting the Nex 6 is not compliant with Snow Leopard and will refuse to install...
