Zeiss 50/1.4 ZF and Mamiya Sekor 50/2.0 TL
I just wanted to know why they look similar ?
I know that the ZF is designed by Carl Zeiss but actually made by COSINA in Japan.
And the TL is made by Mamiya themselves also in Japan.
So now i ask myself, Is this a Japanese style ?
Both of them have :
1: The Chrome Nose
2: Red Letters
3: And the same style of grip in the Focus Ring
is it just me or does these 2 lenses look very similar ?
I know alot of lenses look alike but i always saw Carl Zeiss lenses with unique designs like those found on the Flektogon MC, Sonnar MC, or the Biotar, Planar etc... You can easily know that is a Carl Zeiss lens and you would not find another company making a lens almost identical to a Flektogon or a Sonnar or a Planar unless Zeiss themselves give them the design, or am i wrong ? If i am please correct me, i will really appreciate it.
.
I think the only thing in common between COSINA and Mamiya is that they are both Japanese but thats about it
This is the first time i see a Carl Zeiss lens similar to another lens that has been made by a company that has nothing to do with them.
When COSINA was chosen to manufacture these Zeiss lenses do you think they got inspired by Mamiyas design ?
Because this Mamiya lens i know is from the 80's or 70's or even before and COSINA started making these Zeiss lenses the other day.
Why did they not come up with an original new design ? why use a design similar to the Mamiya lens ?
And i also found that ZF design on some Voigtlander lenses also made by COSINA.
So my question now is:
Can this be a coincidence ? or did COSINA actually got the design from Mamiya ?
Chrome Nose, Red letters and Focusing Ring.
