As you might have read in another thread about the Revuenon 24, I also bought this one. Mainly because I had never seen one before, and because there seems to be no info about it.....
I have some more lenses coming this week....and so little time...!
After some quick shots it became clear very fast: this one needs cleaning! Pics are a bit "foggy" so I will only post some after that's done!
It has a push-button to stop-down at a preset value (like Meyer Oreston). It's also an "electric" version.
Meanwhile: please take a look at these pictures and see if you recognize it from some manufacturer, as it is not a true Pentacon imho. Thank you!

Did Sigma produce lenses under Pentacon brand? I thought Pentacon produced very GDR-like every single screw on their own.
Maybe it's a product from the 90ies after Pentacon was closed? _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester

Yep loads of Sigmas were branded Pentacon, more so in PB mount than M42. Some Samyangs too (in PB mount). _________________ Graham - Moderator

@Manualfocus-G : I know about the dof-button also handy when used on digital!
I have had several Sigma 28mm lenses.... they were quite different. This is bigger for starters. Filter thread 62mm.
Also: it's M42, but the lower mount-ring can be screwed off, maybe it's a T-mount??
There's another Sigma I have with the Pentacon name on it. The Minizoom 39-80 macro, so it would not surprise me if it were a Sigma after all.... _________________ My Flickr photostream: http://www.flickr.com/photos/chantalrene/

That should be a YS mount, used by Sigma, Sun, Polaris and others. It's like a T2 mount, but with auto diaphragm and (sometimes) full aperture metering. The original mount for this lens would have been a YS-LLC type, for M42 screw with the extra Praktica electric meter coupling. _________________ Dave, HCL |

It should be good, the later Sigma 24mms are good, it won't be as good as the best 24mms like the Konica, Nikon, Yashica ML and Olympus OM ones but it should be capable of some very nice wide angle images. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

I had some spare time, so I decided to take it apart. The micro fibre cleaning tip in the picture is pointing at the hazy/foggy element. Of course I had to remove everything else to reach it......
I do not know what it was, as it was no where near the iris blades. Just a small tube with a lens on each side, nothing mechanical around there. The "smear" did come off a bit difficult. Had to use a lens cleaner, and then rinsed it thoroughly with water, finally it got clean by rubbing the wet lens with a micro fibre cloth.

Congratulations on your procedure. But i think au contraire to Ian, you should not expect too much (especially edges are known to be undernourished). This is still early Sigma, IMHO mini-wide models are later and improved. _________________ ---------------------------------
