Hi Folks,

I need some advise. My friend has Canon 5D II and he wants to get a FF WA lens in the 15-25mm range that is not more than €300. Which one would you recommend.?

He's is new to using MF lenses. However, in the past I have lend him my 5D with a Porst 55mm f1.2 to try out.

I have so far recommended these:
Tokina 17mm f3.5 SL
Tamron 17mm f3.5
Zuiko 21mm f3.5
Zuiko 24mm 2.8
Nikkor 24mm f2.8
Samyang 15mm f2.8

AF:
Sigma 15-30mm EX DG f3.5-4.5
Sigma 12-24mm f4-5.6

Thanks.
Surprised

zuiko 21/3.5 is great but you should look for MC version which better than older SC. but those MC in good condition are ussualy above €300

Well, I have EOS converted Canon FD 24/f2, which I was thinking to sell precisely for 300 Euros. If that interests you, drop me a PM.

In any case this is a great lens, no weaknesses at all, even bokeh is very decent. There is a persistent opinion that it's better than 24/f1.4 L, although I don't know how true this is since I've never had the L lens.

another vote for the Samyang 14mm if minimal distortion is not your #1 requirement for a wide angle lens

If Nikon 24/2.8 is wide enough for your purpose, it's worth considering. My Ai version is a decent performer, even in my hands. Definitely much sharper than the copy of 28/2.8 Ai I had for a while.

Can you mount Nikon lenses on a FF canon af body?

+1 on the Tokina RMC. Used to be inexpensive, good lens.

This was on a 5D Mk1. Please excuse the sensor!

If I'm not mistaken, some users here mount them on 5DII.

Cosina 19mm (or 19-35 available in EF mount) is not bad, but gets a bad rep for flare by people that can't handle them. That keeps prices down
Ensinor 24mm - My favourite
Tamron AD-2 SP 17mm - Less flare prone, but not as sharp as the others & much more expensive

I found the tamron ad2 17mm/3.5 to be not as good as the tokina 17/3.5 and neither of them are as good as my stunning smc pentax 18/3.5
