There are not a lot mushrooms left after some below zero temperatures but I still wanted to give it a go and it wasn't bad.. Takumars seem like a great choice to use with autumn colors.

Thanks all!
Yes, the macro takumar is the preset version that goes to 1:1 magnification. I sometimes wish it was a little bit faster and longer but even going only to f4 maximum aperture it is probably my favorite macro lens to use.

Lots of bokeh.
Maybe try this lens stopped down a bit for some amazing sharpness and detail. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

Do you have a flash to use so you could stop down without losing too much light. _________________ D7000

Yes, I have a flash...Though I'm mostly a fan of shooting with max aperture and short DOF I know this lens (preset macro takumar 50mm) is amazingly sharp stopped down indead.
So, here goes (not such an inspiring subject, the last flower standing in the garden)1:1 magnification @f11 with AF540 flash unit and diffusor:

To really see what the lens is capable of I want to post a 100% crop part of the picture. You beat me to it and seem already convinced! The lenses sometimes come up at ebay or so...
I will post the crop anyway as it is already on my flickr account now:
