Hello there. I own a Yashica Yashinon DX 135mm f/2.8 and I'm thinking about selling it... Why? Because I need to buy a tripod and I don't have enough money. I'm not 100% sure if I'm going to sell it but I'd like to know how much should I ask for it in case I do. There's not much info about the lens so I have no idea of the price I should be asking for. Is it worth selling it, anyway?
The lens is in very good condition. No fungus, no cleaning marks, no scratches or whatsoever. Only a few tiny dust spots that don't affect pictures. The built-in hood is a bit loose. It falls to the front position (the position in where we actually use it) and doesn't stay retracted. It has both caps, however the front cap is not a regular cap. It's made of some kind of rubber/plastic/whatever... I've never seen one of those before. Comes with a leather case which has a few scratches but is in good condition.
Well, any thoughts?
Thank you very much |

It's probably a nice lens (like the other DX models) but M42 135mm lenses other than the famous ones don't tend to fetch high prices I'm afraid. Maybe you could advertise it here for Yashica collectors or on the Yashica forum? _________________ Graham - Moderator

The last reported sales are:
16 Euros incl case (lens good, case good)
12 Euros incl case (lens very good, case subpar)
honestly I would say if you would have the case and the original box you could reach 25 Euros from a collector ... anything else will go around that 15€ value _________________ Visit the Yashica Information Site! |

I paid $40 a couple of years ago, for a silver one at a camera store.
Mine's better on film than on digital - with digital it gets veiling haze in the mid apertures, maybe from sensor reflections? _________________ -Jussi

Thanks everyone
@Nesster: I get that haze too, from f/11 to f/22, maybe... I don't know why this happens or if it happens too on film because I don't have a M42 film camera yet. But I'd say it's probably sensor reflections too.
@Relayer: It's possible to keep it, of course. And that's what I'll do, probably. If it was worth something like $100 I'd seriously think about selling it as the money would help a lot on buying the tripod. Since it's rated so low, I'm gonna keep it. |

BIN prices on ebay range from $124 to $180s. Not sure if they are sold at that price though. |

Most unlikely to sell at anywhere like that.
If its clean and pretty as the Yashinon DX's should be, you could possibly get $40.
The Yashinon DX's are quite collectible IMHO, somebody could put together quite a nice set for little, and they are gorgeous, the best aesthetic design of DLR lenses ever. _________________ I like Pentax DSLR's, Exaktas, M42 bodies of all kinds, strange and cheap Japanese lenses, and am dabbling in medium format/Speed Graphic work. |
