Maybe it's time for a little recap !
There are among us a number of NEX 7 users . How do you think about this camera after some time of using , comparing with the other NEX cameras (and not only) and the money paid ? Worth every penny ?
If you want , post pics of your gorgeous 7 , for seasoning the thread Wink

Hi Teo,

I owned the NEX-7 for a couple of weeks, and found it almost unusable for me. The two dials at the top right were always accidentally moved, and the viewfinder, although useful, was not enough to keep the camera. Also the big RAW files (24Mpix are too much for me) drove me to get rid of it and keep the NEX-5, that I like and use.

Honestly I didn't find much better the output from the NEX-7 compared to he NEX-5 one, taking into account that all my pictures end at 900x600 on a web site.

The only one thing I miss is the quieter and faster shutter, but also not enough to keep it.

Maybe other colleagues have a different point of view, but to me the price difference didn't justify the improvements.

Jes.

My NEX-7 has been with me for about 9 months now.
And I still enjoy it like on the first day!!
No problems whatsoever!

My eyesight is getting worse.
Farsightedness because I'm getting older.

The diopter correction is a heaven send.
But it really needs something as accurate as a rangefinder or split image like in my slr's.
Maybe when the evf tech get waaayy better so the resolution is much higher I'll be able to focus without the aids.

For now it's hit and miss unless I shoot slowly.
Maybe some more practice with the focus peaking.
With the 24 mp sensor focus needs to be perfect or it shows.
Output is great.

( Just using it as a digital back for my MF minolta's)

First magnify it 7X enough (first step) and look focus peak I use yellow colors, if shutter speed is enough high , no more missed focus or handshake issue .

Perfect if I exclude the color shift issue with WA.
I think, I'm going to keep it for long, I'll change only for a full frame now.

I enjoyed the idea of the camera more than the actual camera.

I was routinely moving things that shouldn't be moved. I still don't like Sony Menus. Wide angle's had some issues. In the end, I couldn't justify the cost of the camera compared to the 5N.

I'd enjoy a better EVF in a FF NEX. I'd buy it immediately. Hopefully, they can figure out the issue with wide angles - I'd buy a FF NEX immediately.

There is a thread discussing the color shift of NEX 7 on dpreview.

If it is similar to nex-3 a biogon type lens with focal length <= 28mm gives color shift on the edges.
