I thought I'd show you a few examples of my recently fitted Industar-69 on my Nex-5. (all clickable for larger ones)
I've gone a different route to fit the lens than most Nex users go.
Instead of removing the internal screw that limits infinity focus, I sanded down the adapter to the required length. (waterproof sandpaper and a lot of patience. If you have acces to a lathe, I would certainly suggest that )
The advantage is you retain the ability to zone-focus, and it seems to vignette a little bit less.
I'll try to do some more uniform colour shots tomorrow.
In the meantime I really like the oldschool rendering of this lens and the bokeh is "fun", but maybe a bit nausea inducing |

You can also keep the focus limiter screw: remove the nameplate + focusing ring grip, put the lens on the camera and focus by turning the small ring remaining around the front element until you have infinity focus. Then just replace the grip so that the infinity focus mark is now aligned correctly—the distance scale will now be correct and you still have the limiter screws. The only problem is that the aperture scale will be off, but you can simply make a new dot with a marker (and perhaps cover the incorrect old aperture dot with a silver marker).
(As an additional tip: if you remove only one of the two limiter screws—the one not near the infinity focus mark—you will gain about 40 cm of extra close focusing distance, while keeping the distance scale and infinity focus stop.)
P. S. On some copies of this lens you may find that the focusing ring does not turn very well near infinity after doing this adjustment. If that is the case, file down the top of the screw inside the focusing ring so that it doesn't hit the “floor” at infinity focus position. This won't affect functionality in any way, and it will be invisible when the lens is assembled. |

Nice bokeh! And curious about black corners, are there any on NEXs?
Cause I thought anything around 28mm and wider will have black corners. Is this true? |

No wide lenses for 35mm will have black corners on the NEX.
The I-69 is for half-frame 35mm but still covers the NEX sensor. Same with the Pen-F lenses for half-frame.
The only wide lenses that fail to cover the NEX sensor are c-mount ones and those vary a lot in their coverage. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |
