Pentacon 135 f/2.8 Preset: Nikon mount adapter?

This is my first post here, even if I've followed some discussions about manual lenses here in the past.
I own a Fuji DSLR (S5Pro), so a Nikon D200 body. I know that life's not easy for Nikon users when speaking of old lenses due to the infinity focus issue while using adapter rings. However I've seen there's a chance with some good Pentacon lenses, the 135 f/2.8 in particular (and maybe the 200 f/4). I've seen there are a lot of versions of this lens too (maybe 4?) and they seem to be pretty different from each other. The Preset version (maybe the older one?) or its equivalent Meyer Orestegon zebra seems to be pretty interesting, mainly because of its bokeh performance (the famous 15-blade bokeh monster). However I have not understood if it is possible to swap the original mount flange with a Nikon-mount suitable one. That's a nice confirmation. Is it fully compatible with all the Pentacon/Meyer 135 lens series? Despite being interested only in the Preset/Zebra version, it would be nice to know it. It would be nice to see a picture of the adapter. I've searched a lot for this kind of adapter, so the more the information would be available here, the more people like me can learn about this topic now on.

The query isn't about the Exacta adapter....which I find does it's job well for infinity focus with telephoto lenses.

Usually I buy the Fotodiox adapters,but the adapter by Alex does indeed provide infinity focus on the Exacta mount telephotos on the 135mm and above...this is the primary reason I bought the adapter as well as to compare to others.

To me,this adapter is more designed to be permanently mounted,but can be used as an interchangeable mount if you don't mind using a jewelers screwdriver for the procedure.

I haven't tried the adapters on normal or wide lenses for what it's worth.

Just to be clear: my questions, and the same could be said about the hk300 adapter, are referred to an adapter which actually replaces the original conical flange mounted on Pentacon 135/200/300/500 lenses (in fact on these lens the mount can be unscrewed and replaced, as seen into the second link I've reported above). They should be of different size (length) for each focal length and should look as this:

This is what I'm searching for, and maybe what you are searching for too, so it is not a supplementary M42/Nikon ring (which would actually make you lose the chance to focus at infinity).

The Preset Meyer/Pentacon 135/2.8 and 200/4 have a removable rear mount.
I have not seen this mount on another make, but it looks like a small Pentacon66 mount.

So what i have done is to make a smaller, thinner replacement mount which you use instead of the original M42 or Exakta or Praktina mount, and you will have infinite focus.
Installation is really simple.

Hello albatros, I can answer your question.

It is only the preset versions of the Meyer & Pentacon lenses that have the removable cone adapter. These are the lenses shown in the pictures on the thread you linked to. You can recognise them by the shape and the aperture dial near the front of the lens. The cones were designed to mount on M42 and Exakta cameras and give the correct register distance. They can easily be removed and exchanged, so the same lens can be used on both cameras.

There are two different types of cone adapter. The larger and longer version in your last link is used for the 300 & 500 lenses and the shorter version (as in the pic on your second link) is used for the 135 and 200 lenses.

Alex (our member hk300) has made the smaller type cone for 135 & 200 lenses, with a bayonet mount and shorter distance so they can be fully used on Nikon mount. There isn't a replacement for the larger cone as far as I know.

BTW, the later auto lenses (Pentacon only) with the aperture dial near the mount end have a fixed mount. This mount is not exchangeable so you can't focus on infinity with it on your Fuji.

Great response, thank both of you, hk300 & peterqd. hk300: your thread about this adapter was opened about one year ago. Are you still building and selling this item? If so, I am definitely interested in it - assuming I will succeed into buying a decent Pentacon/Meyer 135 lens!

P.S. I assume there is enough clearance behind the back glass element in order not to run into any trouble with the mirror. Am I right?

I've always wondered if there are several different mounts available for the Pentacon/Meyer bokeh monsters, but have only ever seen the Exakta and M42 interchangeable mounts. It's very very cool that Nikon mounts have been custom-made :)

So I am searching for a Pentacon 135 in good conditions. While searching on ebay I would like to learn something more about the items people are selling. Which is the meaning of the serial number? There are 7 digits. Are they just a progressive serial number or do they report some more useful information?
