I am considering a new project and am looking for some good Praktina mount lenses.

what is typically the price difference between Praktina-mount vs M42-mount lenses?

Are these easy to get?

Rare, price is less , sometimes lot less. Made in lot smaller amount than in M42 lenses. I have one lens if you need for adapter project I can send to you.

Lenses are rare , potential buyer will be a few only.

I did see a few Biotar 1.5/75 in Praktina mount on ebat.
It seems they sell for a bit less.
In conversation with BobDodds regarding conversion.
We decided it was not worth it to try.

I'm willing to try devising a hand-made non-destructive adapter. If I find a desirable Praktina mount lens for cheap I'll give it a try.

I've got a very nice primotar 135 gathering dust that I bought by accident, I think it cost $70. I'd love to be able to try it out on a Canon.

I like this camera, robust and very heavy.

Here is my lens set:

    • Carl Zeiss Jena Flektogon 4/25
    • Schacht Ulm S-Travegon 2.8/35
    • Carl Zeiss Jena Flexon 2.0/50
    • Carl Zeiss Jena Biometar 2.8/80
    • Meyer Görlitz Orestor 2.8/135
    • Meyer Görlitz Orestegor 4.0/200
    • Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 4.0/300

The Meyers have an adadptor for Exa and M42 as well.

The Flexon is my best, marvellous quality, smooth focus gear, like new.
The Biometar ist very nice as well I think. The whole range of lenses is suitable enough for good photography.

The Meyer Glasses are easy to get.
Generally: Prices should be inferior to M42 oder Exa.

I only have the 50mm Tessar with an FX camera which is a great combination. I really like the camera. haven't come across any other lenses though. Sad

I don't have any, but I have read that the 2.8/28 is a pretty good lens!

Please do not mix it up with Praktica B mount and the Prakticar lenses.

Praktina (First 35mm System Camera of the world) has it’s own mount, production ended late 50ies.

Prakticar lenses started mid 70ies up to the 90ies.

Nor did I. Sad
I am going to tinker one. One part comes from a Praktina macro set, the other is a M42-EOS adaptor. I have no professional tools. Hope it will work, still waiting for the alloy adaptor... Wink

Given the rather long Praktina mount register distance I wouldn't expect any serious adaptation problem.

I've just seen that it is 50mm - someone said earlier that Practina was too short for an EOS adaptor to be possible but it should be no problem at all. I guess there are just not enough praktina lenses around for it to be financially attractive to make the adaptor.

Pity.

Made/tinkered a chip-powered adaptor out of M42-EOS and extension tube for praktina, has bayonet too.

last pic shows a CZJ Bm 2.8/80 for Praktina mounted on the EOS. And this comes out ...

This is such a clever adaptation I have to repeat my comment.

The easy ones are the best, they are the result of the best ideas.

I plan to make a small series of Praktina-EOS-Adapters during wintertime.

I just ordered a set of M42-adapters, now hunting for Praktina macro tubes.

If anyone is interested in such an adapter - please PN me. Total cost will probably be around 80 EUR for a non-chipped version.
