I didn't think the M5 had a 75mm frame . . . unless it's been modified in more recent times. As made, it had 35, 50, 90 and 135 lines. The 35 and 135 lines should appear as a pair, so maybe that's what you're seeing. There's no way you can avoid having them visible at the same time, because of the way the viewfinder is made.
But anyway, the adapter should move the frame selector far enough to illuminate the 50mm (or any other) frame fully. If it doesn't then either the adapter has been machined incorrectly or the frame selector isn't working. That might be because it's become stiff or dirty with the passage of time.
Try moving the frame external frame selector selector a few times and watch what happens. That might help, if it's the mechanism.
My experience of screw-bayonet adapters, other than the Leitz or Voigtlander ones, suggests that they do vary widely in quality. If the mount hasn't been machined correctly, then you certainly can get partial lines showing.
I hope that's of some help. _________________ Stephen
