Beautiful.
#2 has some harsh bokeh, but #1 (I assume almost same distances) is beautiful.
#7 and #8 are my choices: expression and framing. |

thank you Hoan for looking and commenting.
the bokeh of #2 isn't really surprising, that background literally has hundreds of small reflecting surfaces _________________ my photos on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/collections |

allow me a note :
I cannot imagine Balinese stopping doing their festivals. They include very elaborate and labor intensive temporary structures, decorations, offerings asf. which need up to several months to prepare and which cost a lot of money. So far money pouring into the island because of, yes, mass tourism, makes Balinese festivals even more elaborate, colorful and "rich". Once there will too small a number of people who have time to do all these preparations festivals would suffer, but I don't see that from becoming reality in the foreseeable future yet.
Generally, from my experience, also in the case of Bali, my views regarding traditional cultures are rather critical. Often they look very attractive from the outside but from the "inside" are rather defined by restrictions, inhibitions, strict social and gender rules asf. "Internationalization" or "americanization", even money and consumerism by most individuals imo rightfully are viewed as very welcome changes giving more freedom, chances and choices. This is specially true for an aristocratic society with a caste system like Bali. Of course the very fast pace of changes in the case of Bali has many critical aspects, but generally I'd think that the "Internationalized" and much better educated youth stands for changes for the better and a lot of hope.
here photos of the lens:
( every lens I use has a dedicated set at my flickr including photos of the lens, the photos below: http://www.flickr.com/photos/kuuan/sets/72157628927335053/ )
a quite beaten up copy
it is said to have the same optical design as the Super Takumar f1.9/85mm which I like dearly. I took along the Auto Tak for my travels because of it's smaller body ( I believe it is smaller than my early copies of a f1.4/50 Rokkor and Nikkor ) and having 8 aperture blades instead of 6. It looks as if the aperture blades of my copy sometimes don't open fully until round but I sure prefer the "rounder" oof highlights when stopped down a bit.
cheers,

thank you very much Nisseliten for your very kind comment!
I am also pleased how the "isolated" girl and the first one, which meant shooting from very close to the ground, turned out.
Obviously I used the f1.8/85 specifically to isolate. There are other photos I took during these festival with wider lenses and deeper dof too. Still I start to think that, succumbing to the lure of a rel. fast MF lens, I sometimes overuse shallow dof
best greetings,
