my wife and i just returned from an extended holiday in france. for film i brought my new xpan/45mm lens and contax T for rainy day pocket cam. i brought only the x100 for digital! i wanted just the simplicity of one camera/one lens for most situations, and it turned out to be wonderful choice. this is just a fabulous camera. the files have so much depth, so much clarity and such wonderful color (or tone in b&w). of course i have a lot of photos, but will post a much pared down sampling in three parts: this one which is of Nice and Burgundy, Paris w x100 and Street shots. when i get the film back i will post some results as well. hope you enjoy, we sure did! comments welcome and encouraged!

in burgundy we stayed in the small medieval town of Chagny. some structures were from the 12th century, like the church below.

thank you both!

yes mo it is really lovely. there is a color to the sea here you just cannot duplicate. and clear as a bell.

i also liked 4 very much, though my favorite is 5. actually 5 is one of the two or three favorites from the whole trip, though i havent sent out my film from the xpan yet...i feel like i should be able to sell 5 somewhere! Laughing Embarassed

Tony:

I have some shots from some of the same points Wink (#4)
Past year we went to the southern Provence and visited Nice also.
Really interesting to see the quality of the X100: the #2 shows a remarkable sharpness, and all of them show a nice real colouring.

thanks jes. i'd love to see your shots of nice! there are many spots to achieve dramatic images. one of my favorites of all my france pictures is #5, catching that diver just before he hit the water against that background. lucky circumstance, though i waited several minutes for it to happen....
