Any one try this film, and what dev did you use? A friend sent me several rolls that
expired either in '91 or '93 and I used L110 (HC-110) dilution B, 9 mins, 20C, pulled
the film to 800.

Not so good outside:

a little better indoors:

Using the Contax 137MA and Super-Tak 3.5/35mm lens via adapter (first time I've used
this in ages, last time was on an Oly E-300 DSLR).

I should probably re-scan these when the negs are flat, extremely curly.

I suppose a 3200 film is always going to be pretty grainy. I tried some noise reduction, seems to work quite well:

I really like the last image, I tried to clean it up a little:

Ian, wow, nice PP. Is this Noise Ninja Pro? I have it, but am not very
good at using the software. Embarassed

Glad to be of service Bill. I used the Nik Software Dfine plugin for Photoshop, on the first image all I did was allow it to automatically measure the noise and reduce it - it always does a good job at reducing film grain.

Second one I first sharpened it using Nik Software Output Sharpener plugin with the Structure setting turned up to 16%, then I did the Dfine auto noise reduction, then I selected all of the image apart from the infocus first dispenser and did a second noise reduction.

I'd be happy to do some screenshots of how I did it if you like, PM me if you want to know more about the software I used.

You could send me one of the original scans and I could play with that too if you like, that would yield better results I think than working on the small JPEGs.

Ian, thanks for the kind offer, but would hate to waste your time with what amounts to
test shots. The Nik Dfine software seems to be a more potent and versatile performer
to Noise Ninja. Thanks for your efforts.

I used to love this film pulled to 1600 in Kodak's Tmax dev.

Mark, thanks, it's time I see what that dev can do, is in my cart at Freestyle. Smile

Other folk have recommended Xtol, too.
