Similar to the Helios 44 58mm f2, but not as common
Tried it today while walking a trip in the rain
All shot wide open.

It does?
It looks like a Helios 44M cosmetically and also has the same lowish contrast look about it. I'm not sure it's very sharp though, unless it's the way the forum goes a bit odd at times. _________________ Casual attendance these days |

I like your images very much. No lens renders quite like your lens.
It has a truly sublime and unique optical formula, especially good for portraits. |

Given they're shot wide open @ f1.8 with shallow depth of field, the subjects looks sharp to me I did click on them to open properly though. _________________ Graham - Moderator

Looks sharp to me. #3 shows very good sharpness, on par with my Hexanon 1.8/50 which is like a razor wide open, I can compare that head shot to ones I took with the Hexanon and it's every bit as sharp I think.
I read somewhere that this lens is sharper than the Helios-44, something like 65 lines in the centre, which is pretty sharp.
Since when is the Helios-44 low contrast? I've tried a dozen copies and none of them were low contrast from what I remember. _________________ I don't care who designed it, who made it or what country it comes from - I just enjoy using it! |

Very lovely pics of you wife(?) and your child(?). Good focusing!
I had the same lens. It has a very different bokeh than the Helios 44-2 or the Zenitar 50/2.
My copy had very blurry corners when focus near infinity, but it was ok when used on closer objects. I don't know if that's normal or if it was an adapter problem or a loose element or anything else.
I sold the lens and the guy who got it was very happy with it (he did send a message via Ebay in which he said that the lens was a great peformer on his body)
(don't remember aperture, I guess wide open) _________________ I'm not a collector, I'm a tester
