Here are just a few, rainy day with lousy light:

These were in either auto or aperture priority mode. Love how you set aperture,
the knurled ring around the lens, just like an analog camera with manual focus lens.

I don't think so this is worst than Fuji X100 Smile seems you did well spent your money. Congrats!

Attila, haven't loaded the CD to process RAW files, these are just using the largest
JPEG file. Thanks!

I too have to admit that this seems equivalent to the X100 lens, at least from what
I can see here on the web. Shocked

What a GREAT purchase! Would like to see even more images if at all possible!

Larry

I came back to this. Holy Cow, that is OUTSTANDING output!

Laurence, hope to add to it in a few days. Here are a few, more junker
test pix, all the ones indoors were with flash off, the f1.8 lens really helps.

Lexus be friends

You can see some pincushion going on, but it straightens out with normal range shots

no USM or other sharpening applied

There are color filters for black and white, a built-in ND filter, and a bunch of other stuff
I'll be experimenting with. Smile

Gorgeous. I never would have expected this from a 'point and shoot' size
camera. And I paid 'HOW MUCH' for the X100? It's mind-boggling. Embarassed

The fast lens is simply the best icing on the cake. Shocked

Laurence, there's always a better mousetrap down the road. Wink

Samsung has the EX2 with f1.4/24mm lens, but it will be more expensive
than this. At $295/free ship, it was a no-brainer. This is a refurb, but came
in sealed Olympus box, with warranty papers. I think the feature set was
very well thought out with the XZ-1, I'm happy. Smile

Very good results, but I don't know much about digital cameras and was wondering why you didn't get a Nex that many people like?

congrats Bob!
unfortunately pics smell too much p&s, especially portraits with skin and hairs, they look like plastic Barbie to me Wink

Folks, thanks for your input, I'm early days with this little camera, and
need to experiment with the different modes. I've thought long and hard
about the NEX, but ultimately find myself in Orio's camp, will eventually
get a Canon EOS DSLR, most probably a used 5D. But in the interim,
have two Canon EOS 1n to play with as film is still my first priority.

Thanks again.

Teo, thanks! Since it is a small packaround, it'll be the difference of having a shot, or no shot
at all. Smile

Poilu, thanks for your brutally honest comments, as ever. Wink In spite of which, still having fun with this little camera:

and a little about Poilu, not everyone has a street named after them:

taken with an aging 4MP digital point and shoot, a flickr fave Wink

Between you and Klaus, seriously thinking of having my first name changed to 'Bob'. Laughing

Hi Bill, don't know why I called you Bob, seems I get old !
beautiful this poilu street, can understand it is a flickr fave
last pics are nice, the girl with the bridge and the red fishes is a great top shot !
even if the small sensor dynamics washed the shadows and burnt the water and the white stones Wink

Poilu, thanks (predictable Laughing), camera's autofocus is quite responsive, but of course
not a perfect world. Waiting to hear if the Ricoh GRD V will indeed have an 1" sensor
as rumored. Seriously thinking about a GRD (any model) in the interim, anyway.
