Got bored again and decided to test all my ~50's Smile

Shots were wide open with all lenses, some were cropped to make framing similar, slight exposure adjustment, default LR sharpening +25, no other PP.

This is just to show some characteristics of the lenses e.g. bokeh.

Canon EF 50/1.8:

Volna 9 50/2.8:

Pentacon 50/1.8:

CZJ Pancolar 50/1.8 zebra version:

Industar 50 m39 slr red "P":

Helios 44-2 new barrel:

Helios 44-3M:

Helios 44-2 MMZ zebra:

And not a 50, but just for fun
Jupiter 9 85/2:

Remarkably similar really.
Probably not a surprise. I think the Canon and the Pancolar are the same design.

The Canon has pretty good bokeh actually.

I agree, that from this test, the Pancolar and Canon "nifty fifty" stand out. Did you manually focus the Canon?

Best,

paul

I agree with you also, those 2 do stand out in terms of colour and sharpness. And yes, all were manually focused.
